This series consists of bulletins, circulars, memoranda, and miscellany. Bulletin Number 1, dated 1919 Mar. 12, involves the establishment of state military forces in conformity with requirements of the National Guard of the U.S. Organization of units was to proceed as far as possible until further authorization from the War Department. The Bulletin describes general requirements, requirements for officers and enlisted men, and physical qualifications. It also lists personnel necessary in companies and troops. Bulletins may also appear in the rosters and directories. Circulars from the Adjutant General relate to general administration. Examples of subjects covered include reports of inspections; individual firing range records; instructions regarding stolen military property, pistol use, mobilization, and cleaning materials; extracts from War Department publications and regulations; announcements of National Trophy awards, etc. The memoranda series consists of apparent examination questions (some are designated Correspondence School) relating to field service regulations, marches and convoys, administrative organization, infantry drill regulations, map reading, and combat; some answers to former examinations; and armory instructions for drill schedules. Other memoranda and miscellaneous items concern per diem pay, from the General; requests for contributions for a longer aerial, from the Signal Corps to citizens of Montgomery, with an accompanying photograph; a "speakers data memo" about the historic significance of 12 Sept., the day of the first battle of World War I in which American generals and soldiers participated; and other topics.
